At Edinburgh International Film Festival WE ARE TOGETHER beat over 100 fiction and documentary films to take the coveted Audience Award. It triumphed over this year's other hotly tipped titles RATATOUILLE, IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON, CONTROL and Quentin Tarantino’s latest offering, DEATH PROOF. It is only the second time in 10 years that a documentary has won the award, the last being Oscar-nominated BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB in 1999.
On recieving the award, director Paul Taylor and producer Teddy Leifer praised EMI's Stefan Demetriou for the remarkable not-for-profit deal he has arranged in acquiring WE ARE TOGETHER for UK distribution.
WE ARE TOGETHER has won the Audience Award at all of its premieres – it won IDFA Amsterdam at its European premiere, it won TRIBECA Film Festival at the North American premiere and now Edinburgh at the UK premiere.
